It’s a rarity for Britain to experience hot weather on a bank holiday weekend, and pretty much unheard of for it to happen twice in one month. Unless the forecasts are hugely mistaken, it would seem that this is exactly what is happening this month, and we Brits aren’t really sure how to handle it. If we knew what to do with a sunny bank holiday in the first place, we almost certainly used that idea up a few weeks ago, but fear not, we have a few more classic bank holiday plans up our sleeve to share with you.
Find Some Water
A bank holiday at the beach is the archetypal British dream, and if you live close enough to the coast to make a day trip of a beach visit, we fully encourage you to do so. If, however, you’re based in the midlands with no hope of seeing the sea on Monday, setting up camp at a nearby lake, or perhaps an outdoor swimming pool, can be equally enjoyable. Failing that, why not hose down the paddling pool and drag out the water guns for some family fun in the back garden?
Toast to an Extra Day Off
Is there a better way to celebrate a free day off work than to enjoy an ice-cold tipple under the summer sun? Whether you’re a beer drinker, wine lover or a big fan of a G&T, crack open that bottle and treat yourself- you don’t need a ‘real’ reason.
Enjoy an Ice Cream
This could be for your children whilst you indulge in something a little stronger, or an afternoon treat for the whole family, in any case ice cream is almost always well received. Whether you’re chilling in the back garden with a lolly from the freezer or trying not to get sand on your 99’ cone at the beach, allow yourself the extra calories this bank holiday; we can pretty much guarantee the weather won’t last too long.
The best thing about bank holidays is they allow us a little extra time to unwind, and since it’s just one extra day most of us don’t feel obliged to cram too much into the weekend, meaning we can just enjoy getting the recuperation we need before Tuesday rolls around. None of our favourite bank holiday weekend ideas incur great expense, as ever we’ve come up with low-cost and low-key suggestions which can be funded by filling out a few of our paid surveys at your convenience. So go ahead and treat yourself before the clouds come rolling in again!
